Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
CBT helps identify and gently rewrite the negative thought patterns that quietly shape how we feel and act. Highly effective for anxiety, depression, and many other challenges.
I'm Dr. Swapna Vithalkar, Ph.D. Clinical Psychology, a certified international life coach and trained Sex Addiction Specialist based in Stockholm. For 20+ years I've sat with people through some of the hardest, tenderest moments of their lives, and I'd be honoured to sit with you, too.

I came to this work because I believe deeply that every person has the capacity for change. Not the brittle, performative kind, but the slow, lasting kind that grows out of being truly heard.
My approach integrates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Transactional Analysis. But the modality is the scaffolding; the real work is the trust we build together.
Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, relationship turbulence, sexual addiction, or simply asking better questions of your own life, my role is to walk alongside you with curiosity, warmth, and care.
Private practice in Stockholm, in-person and online worldwide.
IITAP-aligned training in Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder (CSBD).
Research focused on cross-cultural emotional regulation in women.
Across India, the UK, and Sweden, with clients spanning four continents.
I don't believe in one-size-fits-all. My practice is built on empathy, respect, and a deep-seated belief in evidence-based work. Each session is shaped to your unique needs, drawing from the modalities below to create a collaborative path to lasting change.

CBT helps identify and gently rewrite the negative thought patterns that quietly shape how we feel and act. Highly effective for anxiety, depression, and many other challenges.

REBT works at the level of belief: noticing the irrational stories we tell ourselves and replacing them with kinder, more accurate ones. Particularly powerful for stress and self-criticism.

DBT braids cognitive-behavioural work with mindfulness. Useful when emotions feel too big to hold and relationships feel impossible to navigate.
…and other tools, woven in as your work calls for them.

I've worked with clients from across South Asia, Europe, the Middle East and North America. Migration, identity, and the quiet grief of being far from home aren't side topics in my practice; they're part of how I think.
Your background, language and beliefs aren't obstacles to translate around; they're part of the conversation.
Especially around addiction, sexuality and shame: the things hardest to say out loud.
Paced to your nervous system, never rushed. You set the depth and the speed.
